How We Use Land 2002-2007
In this body of work, How We Use Land, my interest is in showcasing the diverse ways in which land is used in urban places and how the diversity of the urban environment is often reflected in the diverse ways in which land is used. Landscape as a distant surface, landscape as a metaphysical construct, landscape as the most permanent physical evidence of our civilization. The work does not attempt to criticize the utilization of land in the urban environment, but instead poses the question of how is land best used and how it use in turn reflect our concerns? These questions are as much about land used in urban places as it is about how the psychological condition of a civilization is reflected in the landscape.
